Tony Straccia
Having a passion for Aboriginal art for more than a decade Tony has been an avid collector and launched Indigenu as a means of sharing artworks from some amazing local and interstate artists who really deserve to be seen and apprecaited. In the main Tony has formed relationships with preferred artists that have included members of prominent artistic families – Pwerle, Napangardi, Brumby and Kngwarreye with some spanning more than a decade. In 2008 Tony met Gracie Morton Pwerle and continues to communicate and acquire work from her.
In some instances he supports artists when they have been required to travel to Adelaide for medical treatment. Painting for Indigenu enables these artists to have some additional income while they are in Adelaide, easing the burden of costs that come with medical treatment and city living.
Tony purchases the works directly from the artists and arranges exhibitions and events to support their work. Indigenu focuses on providing art work, for entry level collectors, as we think its important for everyone who apprecaites Indigenous art to own and share these artworks with their friends and families, as well as to grow a stronger apprecaition for the many rich cultures that make up the Indigenous communities of Australia.
